A Christmas Proposal

Jonathan came to me about one month ago with an idea. This idea was to take all his and his girlfriend Erin’s friends and family and include them in his wedding proposal on film. Over a few meetings, research and collaborating our minds this is what the final idea came to. We filmed on three different days in different areas of anchorage Alaska. Mikey Huff Photography and I filmed and shot this project. After all the video footage and photography was finished, Mikey started editing on the photo’s while I started editing the video footage. Once Mikey cleaned the photos up I looped them to create a movie effect. We talked to the Bears Tooth Theatre about letting us play the movie as a preview to the main feature. At the end of the video you see Jonathan walking into the movie theatre with the ring as if he was walking in exactly at the time he proposed. So on the big screen it was almost like real time.

check us out on Facebook ARCTIC MAN: THE MOVIE ARCTIC MAN MAIN FACEBOOK JGS CONCEPTS Arctic Man: The Movie will show an all-encompassing view of the yearly event Arctic Man in Alaska. We will be compiling footage from Unified Productions, JGS Concepts, Discovery Channel and National Geographic. The Arctic Man is a race for teams of two skilled competitors that tests the strength of an athlete and the horsepower of a snowmobile. Courage and training are essential elements of this team of snowmobile and skier. The Arctic Man is one of the World's Toughest Downhill Ski races, and an exciting snowmobile race, all in one. The skier begins at a summit elevation of 5,800 feet and drops 1700 feet in less than two mile to the bottom of a narrow canyon where he meets up with his snowmobiling partner. The snowmobiler meets the skier, on the go, with a towrope and pulls the skier 2 1/4 miles uphill at top speeds of up to 86 mph. The skier and the snowmobile then separate and the skier goes over the side of the second mountain and drops another 1200 feet to the finish line. At the Arctic Man you " GO FAST or GO HOME." Arctic Man is truly the Ultimate Adrenaline Rush for spectators and competitors alike. Last year approximately 13,000 spectators came from around the nation as well as different countries around the world to enjoy this spectacular Alaskan event. The area the race is held is some of the best snowmobile riding country in the world. The snowcapped peaks and beauty make this spring event one that you will treasure for a lifetime.

So there is this thing called trash the dress. Basically you go out after your wedding and trash your dress. We went from Palm Springs (basically rich Hollywood type) out to the Salton Sea (one of the most desolate areas I have ever seen), an hour from Palm Springs. You go from everything, to nothing in the matter of one hour. There is nothing but abandon trailer home subdivisions to haunted cafe's and then just randomness. Also the Salton Sea has nothing but smelly dead fish and deep mud holes but you can watch this film and look at www.jphotoart.com photo's and see nothing but beauty, this place is indescribable unless you have actually been there. We did not end up trashing the dress but instead took the areas we went to and made them look beautiful. i want to write more about this and will, but just to write the above took a long time(my hand is broke) ha

A Fishermans Journal King Crab

a.fishermans.journal
So after a summer season of Salmon fishing on the Amy La Rae I thought I was done fishing for awhile. 2 weeks ago I received a call from another boat out of Kodiak, AK. The Melanie needed another deckhand for King Crab Fishing. I thought about it for a couple days and then decided to give it a try. I now am in Kodiak, AK and we are all getting set up to leave in 2 days for the Bering Sea to start King Crab season on the 15th of October. I am very excited to do this and not only learn one of the most dangerous jobs in the world but to film and add some amazing video footage to the already started documentary: a.fishermans.journal
With Help from potential sponsors: Red Ledge, Otterbox, Carhartt, Oakley, GoPro, JGS Concepts, Shirts Up Serigraphics, WebSmith Intl., AVALON7, Garmin, Pacific Seafoods, Swiss Army, a.fishermans.journal is starting to come together and will only get better in the next year of fishing in Alaska.
I am keeping this brief due to I have no time to post much cause we are getting prepared to leave. but stay posted cause now a.fishermans.journal has taken on King Crab Fishing to bring an amazing documentary first hand by JGS Concepts.
Enjoy

A Fishermans Journal

So I went fishing this last summer for Salmon on the Amy.La.Rae out of Port Lions, Alaska. I not only worked as a commercial fisherman but filmed and journaled the entire summer. There so far is enuf video footage and 40 pages of journals to start this documentary, I have created a teaser for the summers fishing adventure here: a.fishermans.journal
Now this adventure continues, I have been offered a new, more extreme adventure to continue the fishing documentary I have started. I will be leaving in 2 wks for Kodiak Island to join the crew of the Melanie for King Crab fishing. I will be working as a deck hand and also filming the entire season, continue to go back in January for tanner crab, and finish with halibut.
In one year I will create the full documentary: a.fishermans.journal
this blog page will be the rough journal of what is going on this year.
below are a few stories from the summer fishing. stay posted for much more to come

Arctic Man 2011

So Its been a minute since I have been on here to update life. About 10 days ago professional skier Troy Murdough called me up and said he and professional Snowmachine rider Kyle Armbrust wanted to do Arctic Man. I have been working with Troy this winter filming so I took on the task of helping find some sponsors in 4 days before the event. Well this is what happened. We landed some awsome sponsors to help with getting us up to Arctic Man. Doom/Love Hestra Gloves Klint Skis Neuro Acai Alaska World Cup Girdwood Alaska Mining & Diving Spinell Homes Klint Skis Shirts up Serigraphics Loken Construction Dan Bruzas LLC Troys Mom With out the help of the Above Sponsors we would not have been able to make the adventure of Arctic Man happen. Troy and Kyle took a bad fall in the Canyon during the race but are not letting that stop them from competing next year. This was there first year and if had not been for the fall they would have placed easily. Troys speed in the first canyon and the Conection between Troy and Kyle at the Pick up point was flawless. They plan on training more next winter and competing again next winter. Troy and Kyle are freestyle riders with a deep passions in all aspects of Skiing and Snowmachine riding. They are taking there skills and plan to compete in many competitions throughout the year including the 2010 X Games. Go here to view Kyle Armbrust Freestyle Video. Along with making a very epic trip happen, we all met some very cool people and made many connections in the extreme sports/film world. Excited to see what is going to happen in the future. We all are very pumped up. More up very soon

Updates

So many things have been going on in Ak while I have been here. Shreding, working with Crosswinds youth group, filmin a ton when I can, and just doing some epic adventures. I think my time in Ak is coming close to an end and am going down to CO for a bit to work. I am pretty excited to get back cause really the snow has been terrible most of my trip in AK. I am planning a trip to Haiti at the end of April as long as everything works out. I will be going down to help rebuild what I can for a couple weeks and meet some people to make it become a more full time thing. I have not had much time to work on Epicality, but it is still in the making. I have been working with tons of different people to eventually make the page pretty awsome. As for right now it is just super rough but when more time is found it will become more organized and there are many pages that have not even been linked up yet. I have a few new vids up on Vimeo and also have been slowly organizing my Flickr with some new pics and what not. I am cranking out some older footy vids to get rid of gigs for more room so I dont have to purchase more hard drives cause they seem to be filling up quick like. Well thats a short but sweet update on life. j-hosh
