Surf Alaska: Video Series Teaser

We have been working with Scott Dickerson in creating a new video series out of Alaska.

Surf Alaska, the video series, tells the tale of a few hardy souls in the far north exploring their endless back yard in search of surf.

Playing chess with mother nature, we use all available resources from boats to helicopters in our search for a few fleeting moments of euphoria.

A land of extremes - Alaska is the home of the midnight sun and the midday darkness. With over 34,000 miles of rugged, wilderness coastline, snow covered mountains and glacier carved fiords, violent weather patterns and 30ft tidal changes - This is not an easy place to go prospecting for surf.
Easy isn’t something we are in search of. It’s the difficulty of accessing the coastline, enduring the storms and surviving the cold that make surfing in Alaska so rewarding.

We always venture out in search of waves to surf, but whether we score or not there is always a story of adventure to tell.

Brad Johnson the "Walking Paraplegic"

We are super excited to be working with Brad Johnson this winter.  Brad is an inspiration and so motivated to move forward with his professional snowmachine career.

On February 4, 2012 Brad was out riding and filming with some friends in the Alaska backcountry.  The day was just like any other day but after going off a cliff, Brad broke his back.  They fused five vertebra with rods and screws and he is know paralyzed from the waist down.

This has not stopped Brad, he is more motivated then ever and we are excited to see what is to come.  Take a few minutes out of your day and watch the below video.  Brad was invited down to California to be on the TV show "The Doctors" last month.

We went out to continue filming with Team BIG Alaska to stack some footy for the movie we will release next fall for the Team.  We our proud to announce that TBA has an new sponsor for the 2013/2014 season.  SPY has came on board to help us progress as a team as well as a local board shop AK Outerwear.

We went down and joined up with Carly Davis to film her rebuilding her Arctic Cat snowmobile for her upcoming adventures.  Carly is a professional snowmobile athlete from Alaska and super fun to work with.
We have been filming with Carly this winter all over AK and are heading up to Arctic Man 2013 with her and team to document the race from start to finish.

We time-lapsed the install of the motor with the new Contour +2.  This little POV camera continues to blow our minds.

The two next photos are stills pulled from filming last week with Carly.  Make sure to stay posted via JGS Concepts for a video to come in the next month showing this amazing skill.

The photo below was taken by Petri Films Sony FS700 super slow mo camera.  The ability of this camera has blown us away and we are excited to get some new edits rolling.

Make sure to check out more from Carly and her career.

2013 has be a great year so far.  JGS Concepts team has been working on some big things to bring to you this coming year.  We went down to SIA in Denver for a week and had many meetings with sponsors and partners and we are stoked to announce that we have officially teamed up with some big players.  We will be announcing over the next couple months some major projects.

We were asked by Red Bull Media House to premiere "Where the Trail Ends" in Alaska.  We are super honored to blow this show up in AK.  No set dates yet but we are planning for the third week in May at the Bears Tooth Theatre.  Below is a trailer for the movie.

We will be updating more with times and set dates as soon as we get it all figured out. But be prepared to not only see an amazing movie by Red Bull but some big things teaming up with the Bears Tooth in Anchorage.

JUST GET STOKED clothing line (a division of JGS Concepts)

We are getting ready over the next few months to fully launch JUSTGETSTOKED.  JGS is going to be a brand we print to clothing and more.  We have about 20 designs all made and are working on more over the year.  We do have an online store for now but plan to change up the store to our own personal to bring the cost down for everything.  We will have a print shop in AK and Montana to start. We also will be dispersing to shops in Alaska, Montana and Aspen, Colorado to start.

JGS Clothing line will be used to help with future sponsorships, film projects and we will also be donating a percent to a Non-Profit.  We have not desided which Non-profit to donate to yet so if you have a proposal on why we should donate please email josh@jgsconcepts.com to be considered.

justgetstoked.com will soon be up with a full online store.

Alyeska Ski Resort Video Update:

In February of 2013, Alyeska Ski Resort held its annual Frostbite Festival.  With the Rail Jam, Big Air, Grom Mini Pipe and after parties at the Sitzmark, it was a fun filled weekend for everyone.

Sunday after the crowds died off and as people went home, the crew of JGS Concepts and Local riders gathered together to session the Big Air Jump one more time.

Local skiers and snowboarders: Max Durtschi, Shaun Poirot, Luke Tanaka,  Tony Burts, Troy Murdough, Elan Cohen, Brendon Anderson, Logan Baston, Gabe Gibbs, Jerry Nidda-Harris, Alex Widger, and Jake Rasauer all crushed it before the lights went out to end the two hour film session.

While the crew of JGS Concepts captured riders from many different angles on film to create this edit, Scott Dickerson (Surf Alaska) captured some amazing photos you can check out on his website.

Huge thanks to Ski Patrol, Park Crew, Marketing and everyone else who was involved to make this happen.
